CRAB HOUSE AT PIER 39
In a Nutshell...
It is wise to be a little skeptical about a restaurant in the heart of a tourist area and there is no place more touristy than Fisherman's Wharf's Pier 39. But, in the case of the Crab House, they do a pretty good job with both the food and the atmosphere. Being up on the pier's second level, it has a great view featuring the Golden Gate Bridge, the marina and the tourist boats coming in and going out for another lap around the bay.
When they name a restaurant Crab House it is a pretty strong clue on what to order. In this case, it is Dungeneese crab served with garlic sauce. Its pricey and don't expect to leave feeling stuffed, but boy are they tasty.
Pros:
- Great bay and city view
- Pleasant atmosphere
- Great crabs in garlic sauce
Cons:
- Pricey
- Once one has the meat out of the shell, there is not a lot left
