CLIFF HOUSE

In a Nutshell...
Cliff House's location on the North Western corner of the San Franciscan peninsula gives it sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, the birds and seals cavorting on Seal Rock and the big container ships finishing their trans-Pacific trips as they enter the bay.
There are two restaurants in the building: casual dinning in the Bistro Restaurant and more formal dining downstairs in Sutro's. The walls of the Bistro are covered with a collection of signed publicity photos of Who's Who from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Apparently, if you were sitting there long enough, you would have seen every movie star there ever was. And it appears, the tradition continues.
The Bistro menu has standards such as Hamburgers ($13.50) and Fish 'n Chips ($18) as well as fancier fare such as Pan Roasted Salmon Filet ($24.50) and Frutti de Mare ($25). Prices downstairs in the fancier Sutro's range from $24 to $38.
